Payment information
When you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. Your full card details are submitted directly to Stripe and are never stored on our servers. We receive only the metadata Stripe sends us — your Stripe customer ID, subscription ID, plan, status, billing period dates, and (where Stripe provides them) the last four digits of the card and the brand for display in your billing history. Stripe's own privacy practices are at stripe.com/privacy.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service.
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- Store and back up your projects and let you share them with people you invite.
- Process payments and manage subscriptions through Stripe.
- Send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, subscription receipts, sharing invitations, billing notices).
- Respond to support requests and feedback.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your project content to train AI models. We do not show advertisements in the Service.
4. When we share information
We share personal information only in these circumstances:
- Service providers. We use a small number of vendors who process data on our behalf, under contractual confidentiality and security obligations:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Our hosting provider — infrastructure where the Service and your data run.
- People you share projects with. When you invite another user to view, nest, or edit a project, we make the relevant project data accessible to them at the permission level you select. You can revoke their access at any time from the share dialog.
- Legal compliance. We may disclose information when we have a good-faith belief that doing so is required by law or legal process (subpoena, court order, government request), or when necessary to enforce our Terms, protect our rights, or protect the safety of users or the public.
- Business transfers. If Counters Studio is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you (by email or in-app notice) before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not share your personal information with any other third parties for their own marketing.
5. Cookies and local storage
The Service uses cookies and browser local storage for purposes we consider strictly necessary or functional:
- Authentication cookies — keep you signed in across sessions.
- Preference storage — remember your language, unit (mm/inches), and other interface preferences locally in your browser.
- Session storage — short-lived data needed for the current page (e.g. an undo history).
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or social-media tracking cookies. Disabling cookies will prevent you from staying signed in.
6. Data retention
- Account and project data — kept while your account is active. If you delete a project, it is removed from active storage; backup copies are retained for up to 30 days before being permanently deleted.
- Closed accounts — when you close your account, personal data and project content are deleted within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records (for example, payment records for tax and accounting purposes — typically up to 7 years).
- Logs and technical data — application and security logs are typically retained for up to 12 months.
You can request earlier deletion by contacting us at Contact@Counters.Studio; we will honor that request to the extent legally permitted.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to fix information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Deletion — ask us to delete your personal information.
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data.
- Objection — object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Withdrawal of consent — where we rely on your consent, withdraw it at any time (without affecting prior lawful processing).
- Complaint — lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at Contact@Counters.Studio. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
For users in the European Union and United Kingdom, our legal bases for processing are: performance of our contract with you (operating the Service), our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, service improvement), compliance with legal obligations, and your consent where required.
For users in Brazil, this Policy is designed to comply with the General Data Protection Law (LGPD, Lei nº 13.709/2018). You have the rights set out in Article 18 of the LGPD; contact our Data Protection contact at Contact@Counters.Studio.
For California residents, in the previous 12 months we collected the categories of personal information described in Section 2. We did not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may exercise your rights under the CCPA/CPRA by contacting us at Contact@Counters.Studio.
8. International data transfers
Counters Studio is based in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in countries (including the U.S.) whose data-protection laws differ from those in your country of residence. By using the Service, you consent to those transfers. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for international transfers.
9. Children
The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child, we will delete it.
10. Security
We protect your information with administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, including HTTPS encryption in transit, password hashing, access controls, and regular security review. No system is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we ever discover a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated Policy here with a new effective date and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in-app notice. Your continued use of the Service after the new effective date means you accept the updated Policy.
